The Trabocchi
Coast
Trabocchi are ancient fishing machines, consisting of a platform connected with the shore by a footbridge. Their distinctive profile and web of fishing nets dangling over the water make this stretch of coastline fascinating and unique.
The coast of the province of Chieti has a great number of them, from Francavilla to Vasto, including in Torino di Sangro. Some of them can be visited or are even home to restaurants where you can taste traditional dishes prepared with the fresh catch: an experience that will delight you!

The Lecceta
It is one of the few remaining coastal forests on the Adriatic. It stretches from sea level to about 115 m above sea level and constitutes a unique environment with the wide riparian strips of the Sangro.
This forest is also very important for wildlife: in addition to the waterfowl that populate the mouth of the Sangro and the Adriatic coast, the dense Mediterranean vegetation provides shelter for numerous birds and terrestrial animals, including the tortoise (Testudo hermanni): in fact, the forest is the only known area in our region where this tortoise lives and breeds.
